Opening locks, doors without keys is sometimes the only rational way, for example, when the keys are lost, and it would be a shame to break the hinges and destroy the door, which cost at least several hundred bucks. Not to mention all the dangers of doing so.
Do you think that only experienced burglars can open the door without a lock? Nothing could be more wrong! In the Anglo-Saxon culture, the term lockpicking has been established, which means a specific art of breaking locks without a key, but with appropriate tools, such as skeleton key or even more sophisticated items. How to pick a lock and what should you know about it?
Lockpicking – what is it about?
The key to success to open the door lock is certainly the right insertion of tools, it is both about the depth and at what angle it is made. However, the insert has a big impact on whether it will be successful. When it comes to protection with the help of such an insert, it is definitely not worth choosing those that are cheap, very low quality, because you can easily remove such protection.
Pick or lockpick – a long, thin piece of metal folded up at the end (dentists use similar). They are used to reach the inside of the lock and raise each of the pair of pins in turn.
Tension wrench – a flat piece of metal, this tool is not complicated, the simplest tension wrench is a flat screwdriver (flat in the sense of the tip type, as well as its dimensions).
How to pick a lock?
The first step when opening the lock is to insert the tension wrench into the keyhole and turn it in the same direction in which you would turn the key. This movement will cause the insert to move slightly relative to the housing, as you can see in the animation below, a small step will be created between the pins in the glass in which they are located.
Without interrupting the action on the cylinder, you place the pick in the keyhole and start raising pins. Your task is to raise each pair of pins to this level, when the upper pin is completely in the housing, as if the correct key had acted on it. All the time by operating the tension wrench you will feel or hear a gentle click when the pin snaps into place. This sound causes the upper pin when it passes through a fault caused by a slight rotation of the cylinder with a tension wrench. This step will hold the top pin in the cylinder housing and will not allow it to return to the blocking position. You proceed in the same way with the other pins, and when the last one snaps into the housing, the insert will rotate without resistance.
