1. Tangled necklaces! Lost earrings!  This jewelry box has gotten out of hand!  Despite the fact that I love this jewelry box, which I inherited from my grandma - filled with vintage gems, it's really busting at the seams.

    Today I went thrifting and found the perfect wooden frame to make a jewelry holder.  The whole process took a few hours and now I can actually see my collection!  I feel so organized, and best of all I think it's pretty cute.

    Hook your earrings directly to the chicken wire and use 'S' hooks to hang necklaces and bracelets.  Now that I'm organized, I feel like I have three times as much jewelry!  I can actually find it all now and I re-discovered a few things.  It was a fun project - I just love it!

  2. Ribboned Asparagus & Pine Nut Salad

    Sunday, July 24, 2011

    A salad, perfect for this Summer heat!  I made this delicious recipe for dinner this weekend and served it up with pesto and cranberry stuffed chicken.  It was delightful!

    What you'll need:
    * Raw Asparagus, ribboned into strips with a peeler
    * Pine Nuts, toasted
    * Fennel, thinly sliced
    * Grape tomatoes, cut in half
    * Parmesan Cheese, flaked

    * Olive Oil
    * Fresh lemon juice
    * Salt & Pepper
    (I generally mix about 2/3 lemon juice to 1/3 olive oil, dash with salt and pepper)

    Toss together asparagus, fennel, tomatoes, and dressing in large bowl until evenly coated with dressing.  Serve on plates and then sprinkle the toasted pine nuts and Parmesan cheese on top.  It's that simple!  Enjoy!

  3. I added a few items to Etsy.com today and played with my new camera!  Yes, I bought a ridiculously nice camera today because I'm sick of exhausting my Photoshop skills, in an effort to make my old camera's pictures look half way decent.  Also, side note, I'm worth it!

    Prepare yourselves for the extreme photography love that I will now be throwing your way!  I'm excited to learn more about photography + plus figure out all these crazy buttons and settings.  I got a Canon Rebel T3i EOS 600D - if you have one, let me know how you like it!

    And enjoy the latest from Ninth & Bird on Etsy!  Click the image to view listing.

    I hope you have a glamorous day!

  4. breakfast burritos
    This passed weekend I was camping in Washington on this beautiful little island called Anacortes.  Did I mention beautiful!?

    In preparation for the trip, my sister and I decided to make what I call "campurritos."  These are pre-made breakfast burritos.  Just wake up and throw them on the fire for a mess-free breakfast experience (perfect for camping)!  You can even place the tin foil packages on the coals and let them warm while you make a french press.  OH I JUST LOVE CAMPING!  P.S. They are delicious!  So here's what we did:

  5. Weekend Bliss // Seattle Bound

    Friday, July 1, 2011

    It's the weekend and it's beautiful outside! Dress up, wear bright colors, and live glamorously!

    It's hard to believe it's the Fourth of July weekend! Where is my Summer going?!  I could live in Summer all year long, visit Spring and Fall only for Vacation, and only see Winter for family reunion obligations and such.  And life would be okay.

    I'm off to visit my dear sister, Renaye, and handsome brother-n-law, David, in Seattle for the holiday.  I can't remember the last time I traveled for the Fourth, except to go back home to South Dakota.  I feel a bit guilty breaking away from my usual South Dakota meet up with friends, BBQing, and riding bikes down town to watch the fireworks.  O'well, Cheers to new traditions!

    Also, Cheers to taking a break to "unplug." I love this post -- I relate to it so much and it's exactly what I'm doing for 9 days in Seattle!  ...well, almost.
