Sunday, June 26, 2011Have you ever found a pile of fabric scraps at a thrift store, and suddenly you imagine a dress they could be? I love to make things from scratch -- I generally don't use recipes and I don't use patterns, and it drives my mother crazy. (Life is more fun that way!)Except for the lining, all of the material is from a thrift store (.25 cents a piece!). I had a ton of fun making the flower "blossom" details and I love the raw edges of the pink layers. It's comfortable, soft, and perfect for Summer!
Saturday, June 25, 2011I'm just blown away by this camera! It takes "living pictures" so you can change the selective focus of the image after you've taken the shot! I want it, I want it! Unfortunately, this picture revolution camera wont be available until later this year. In the mean time, you can visit their picture gallery and see how the camera works, or just click and play with the image below!

My dear friend is having a baby shower next week, and I've been given the wonderful task of making the cake! As I searched for recipes, I came across these beautiful works of cake art. My new passion just might become cake making! In which case I would have to start collecting cake plates... and I'm alright with that. Good thing I've already had my eyes on these ones, hand made from vintage plates by WhimsyLou! How creative and adorable!
Meanwhile, I'm still searching for the perfect cake recipe. If you know of a great one -- Please share! I just might use your recipe for my attempted cake art!
Thanks a million!

Wednesday, June 22, 2011How great are these one of a kind wooden sunglasses?! I love all of them - the whole collection! Tumbleweeds Oddities Shop is based out of Southern California and the two of them are big fans of making things out of leather and wood. (My favorite materials as well!) I love accessories made from natural materials; wood, feathers, stones, and leather... it's beautiful and earthy.I think I'm going to order the olive tinted sunnies for myself! I'm a big supporter of Etsy.com and I've made a mid-year resolution to shop there more often. SUPPORT THE MAKERS OF THIS WORLD! Once you really look around, you'll see how great the shopping is there. Next time you feel like treating yourself or need to buy a gift, shop Etsy! (Ok, I've promoted Etsy enough for one day...)
Have a beautiful fun filled, creative day!

Thursday night: Ladies Night @ The Crazy Merchant, a.k.a - best bead store in the area. Once a month they have a FREE wine/appetizer night where you can gather a few girlfriends and make jewelry! If you don't know how - they have all the tools and teachers you need.
Friday night: Ray Lamontagne concert! Not just Ray-- but Ray at Red Rocks! (Best venue EVER!) If you've never checked him out -- DO IT! He will romance you.
Saturday: White water rafting at the Colorado River Runs! A super fun day in the sun - we even got a little cliff jumping in! Followed by a lovely evening at the Green Russell - which, if you didn't know, is the best place in Denver to grab a drink. Mmm Mmmm.
Sunday: relaxation time! Washington Park was beautiful. We packed coffee, brunch, our swim suits and "burn oil" ...all you need really.

Renaye's 25th Birthday: 2009For five years now I've taken photos of my feet. Weird right?! This "foot photography fetish" started in college, and before I knew it I had a rather unique collection of all the places I've been. The photos range from exciting vacations I went on to simple camping trips with friends. Despite the fact that some of them are taken on an uneventful day or place, at that particular moment I felt compelled to document it. Sometimes it wasn't where I was, but how I felt at that moment, and I love that part.
So how do you document your adventures?!

Sunday, June 12, 2011Kris Trappeniers has to be the most detail oriented person on earth! He's a paper sculpter / stencil artist who lives in Belgium, and his work is amazing. It leaves me wondering just how long it takes to delicately slice out each little piece. You can check out more of his amazing work on Flickr.
Speaking of Belgium, and the chocolate making-Flemish speaking folks, I got a chance to visit Ghent a few years ago. It was absolutely beautiful! If you ever get a chance to visit, make sure you stop by the Gravensteen Castle, and of course, the Chocolaterier De Graslei for some breath taking chocolate.
Friday, June 10, 2011I'm so excited for the weekend! I'm going white water rafting for the first time ever, BBQing with friends, AND going to a Rockies game! With such an eventful weekend I'm barely going to find time to do anything else, except have fun! I suppose we all need that sometimes; a break from the to-do lists, projects, and chores.
I did come across this beautiful Dove Evolution video that I had to share, even though it's rather old. Hopefully it sets the tone for your weekend and makes you see the "real beauty" that's all around you!
